The 4-Step Process of Coaching

Hi, I trust you and yours are well.

Thank you always for reading my books and free bi-monthly broadcasts, and using my tools and strategies for winning in a VUCA world with freedom, power and peace of mind.*

*You probably know by now: VUCA stands for Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity and Ambiguity. Perhaps you also know the Chinese curse: May you live in interesting times ๐Ÿ˜‰

I wanted to share a video with you that could well change the way you manage.

YouTube Video

Harvard Business School says you can manage up to five people effectively.

More than that, and you run into two pitfalls:

You risk being so consumed by meeting your direct reports that you donโ€™t see the wood for all those trees anymore.

And/or you risk being so hurried that your conversations stay on the surfaceโ€”you go through the motions instead of going deep and managing what matters.

With coaching, you donโ€™t have that limit of five people. You can coach a lot more people. Because they are managing you.

More about that in this video, an interview by Ben Pakulski, who asked me some great questions about coaching and pulled out of me the essence of my coaching methodology.

Topics covered in this episode:

  • Why a lack of confidence is necessary to be a good coach
  • Asking the right questions
  • Eliciting commitment – of the coach and the coachee
  • Impactful life lesson: choose three keywords to guide you
  • The 4-step process of coaching
  • How rituals can help you succeed in your day
  • Identifying breakdowns
  • The illusion that communication equals accomplishment

Add coaching to your management style. It might well transform your power.
