Sunday is the day of rest

Rest in Him

Sunday is the day of rest. Why? Because He rested. As difficult as it may be for us to understand that He created the heavens, the earth, and every living thing in them in seven days (He is God!), He rested on the seventh day. He saw that His work was good and therefore rested on that seventh day. We must do as He commands and must rest as He did.

Break from work

This rest is not a break from loving others, fellowshipping with other believers, or a vacation from our time spent with Him. It is a break from our work and how we toiled throughout the week. It is a time to relieve, refresh, renew, recharge, rejoice, and review the week we accomplished much for His glory! Are you feeling a little short in that last part? Welcome to the club. Our effort to bring Him glory in everything we do takes effort and isn’t always at the forefront of hearts and minds.

Give His grace, mercy and love away

Take today to re-dedicate that effort this next week. Take today and decide to work toward bringing Him glory in everything this week. Make a conscious decision to seek His will in every aspect of life this week. Pray about it. Tell someone about it. Be accountable to it and give your all in it. After all, He has done so much for us. He is doing so much for us. He will continue to do so much for us. Shouldn’t we do for Him as well? Shouldn’t we give His grace, mercy, and love away to others this week just as He has done for us? Rest. Rest in Him. Rest in all He is, and He does.
