Failure is not an option

“Failure is not an option.” This is a phrase attributed to the NASA Space Program portrayed in the movie Apollo 13.

Our own strength is not enough

On our own strength, failure is not only an option, it is inevitable! Even though we may have a high regard for ourselves, our abilities, our strengths, and the impact we make, we fail. We fail. Sometimes, we fail miserably and often, despite our best efforts. Our strength and abilities will never be enough for perfection or avoiding failure.

The only one who has never failed, never lost, is undefeated in every sense or situation we can fathom is God! He is undefeated. He has never lost a match, a fight, a battle, or a war. Ever. He is God over all. He is strength over all. He is sovereign over all. No matter what we think, say, or do, His reign remains in every moment and at every turn in our lives.

How can we be undefeated?

How can we be undefeated? How can we never lose the match, the fight, the battle, or the war with ourselves and the evil one? Trust God. Trust His love for us. Trust His strength in us. Trust that His son died for our eternal salvation. Trust the prompting of His Holy Spirit. Trust who God says He is and act and behave based on that. Trust not your own understanding. Be undefeated with God, in Christ Jesus, and by His Holy Spirit.

“One Thing Remains” is a worship song that talks about this very subject that is definitely worth the 4-minute listen:

Your love never fails
It never gives up
It never runs out on me

In death, in life
I’m confident and covered by
The power of your great love
My debt is paid
There’s nothing that can separate
My heart from your great love

Your love never fails
It never gives up
It never runs out on me
