Fountain of Youth
Fountain of Youth
This was a fictional term used all over the world and centuries ago. It was thought to be in many places wherever the rumor was adopted. Ponce de Leon was accused of saying it first, and others after him continued on with this fictional term until it became widely believed to have existed. As we know today, the Fountain of Youth doesn’t exist. However, many locations have claimed to possess healing waters, which turned out to be more marketing than reality.
A film with John Wayne titled, “The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance,” has a line in it that is very telling. “When the legend becomes fact, print the legend.” Meaning, when the facts become less interesting than the fiction that was birthed from it, go with the fiction. This, of course, is nothing other than lying. Man has been the author of a multitude of lies for self-gain. That sounds like the evil one, for sure! Lie about this to obtain that. Lie about who God is to create doubt in a mortal mind to gain a lost soul, or at least delay the soul from pursuing God, even for a moment.
God has eternal promises through scripture. God tells us He has the power, and we have the opportunity for eternal life. “Wait, what?” You might say. Yes, He does! In John 3:16, Christ Jesus is responding, or rather educating, Nicodemus after he asks about how one can be born again. Christ Jesus says,
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish, but have eternal life.”
Eternal life! There it is! The magic place man has sought with all his inventions of youth-claiming, age-defying, notions, lotions, and potions is not possible without God. Christ Jesus is the only way to everlasting life. Christ Jesus is the only way to everlasting peace. Christ Jesus is the only way to the Father, God Himself. So you see, there is a path. There is a way to everlasting life eternally.
The everlasting life Christ Jesus speaks so clearly of is not of man or of this world. It is of Him, our Savior, our Lord, and our Redeemer. Won’t you share the true path to everlasting life with someone in your sphere of influence? It just might introduce them to the only One who can truly guarantee it.
