Comparison kills Contentment

In comparison

Throughout scripture, we are advised not to compare ourselves with one another. Whenever we compare ourselves with one another, discouragement can be the result, while self-centeredness is always the result. We find others better presented, younger, better off, more wealthy, healthier, more worthy, and so on. The comparisons we make, tear others down while victimizing us at the same time.

We are also not to compare ourselves to God, Christ Jesus, or the Holy Spirit. However, He reveals who and what we are in light of Him. As Philippians 3:7-8 says,
But whatever things were gain to me, these things I have counted as loss because of Christ. More than that, I count all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them mere rubbish, so that I may gain Christ,

Who are we in light of Christ?

Are we darkness, failure, hatred, jealousy, or even defiant? Must it not be so! If we know God the Father, Christ the Son, and the Holy Spirit, we are to be the light, loving, humble, and obedient. Others should not see anything but Him to us, in us, and through us.

In the light of Christ, His hope, grace, mercy, and love should be visible to others. This is a love so bright and hopeful, that it outshines anything else, while simultaneously revealing peace that makes no sense.

Stop Comparing

So whenever we are led to compare the lot of another, with what might be considered overwhelmingly more than ours, stop it immediately in its tracks and consider the struggles we all have. Consider that we are all instruments in His plan, and we receive unique purposes that only we are qualified to fulfill. No one else is qualified the same.

We are all each very unique in how we fulfill the will of God. Rest in that. Beleive in that. Exemplify His love outwardly by that and be like no other human being ever. Because God formed you in your mother’s womb to be like no other ever.
