Little Children
Little children
Those two words evoke a number of images, don’t they? Little children can be innocent, loving, sweet, and kind. Some little children around 2 years young can be the opposite, but I digress. Little children are sponges to their surroundings, always listening, always watching what their mom and dad are doing.
Little children take many mental notes on what they see and remember. Many times, their observations will result in behavior, both bad and good, depending on the examples they have been given by their parents, their extended families, friends, and even strangers. It is the doing that fleshes out the observing.
Little children can also be curious while not always being cautious. Little children can also be uninhibited by others because they haven’t yet formed that level of shame or embarrassment. They can also be dangerous because they haven’t fully grasped the consequences of their actions. Little children have a special mentality that instantly trusts and moves based on that trust.
Little children are who we once were, and when it comes to God, we should strive to behave in similar ways. Treating others in a sweet, loving, and kind manner are just a few ways adults can be childlike. Trusting God with all our heart, soul, mind, and body is another. Grasping the consequences of our behavior from God’s perspective can also be child like.
Believers in and followers of Christ Jesus are called children of God. It is true that God creates every soul that’s born but we aren’t His children until we recognize, admit, and confess (Romans 10:9, James 5:16, 1 John 1:9) that He is our Father, His Son is our Savior, and the Holy Spirit is our helper. Have you done this one simple act of admission?
Ask God, and He will answer. Seek God, and He will be found. Confess to God, and He will forgive.
Love God for He loved you first and before you were ever born. Come to God, and He will receive you. That is a loving relationship between the Father and His child.
