Preventing Winter Burnout: How Leaders Can Support Their Teams
Winter months can lead to seasonal slumps for leaders and their teams. The combination of colder weather, shorter daylight hours, post-holiday fatigue, and the height of the cold and flu season, can result in depleted energy levels, lack of motivation, and burnout. For leaders, itโs essential to recognize and address these challenges to maintain a resilient and engaged workforce.
Understanding Winter Burnout
Winter burnout is a combination of emotional exhaustion, stress, and decreased enthusiasm for work that is exacerbated by seasonal changes. Contributing factors include:
- Reduced exposure to sunlight, leading to lower vitamin D levels and mood disturbances, such as depression and lack of motivation.
