Happy Easter Sunday!

Simply defined by man (Merriam Webster), death is the permanent cessation of all vital signs, the end of life. One infallible ratio is death is 1:1. Every soul that ever lived will die at some point. Noah lived 950 years before he died. According to multiple sources, the average life expectancy in the United States is roughly 78 years, although many folks live decades beyond that. One thing’s for sure, everyone dies.

Scripture defines death as sin and sin as death, especially the cost or wages of sin:

For the wages of sin is death,

Romans 6:23a

Then when lust has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it has run its course, brings forth death.

James 1:15

However,

For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death.

Romans 8:2

but the gracious gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 6:23b

Faced with these facts, what are you doing this very moment to prolong your life spiritually? The death of Christ Jesus was prophesied convincingly in Scripture many times, as was the fact that He was the Lamb of God to be sacrificed for the atonement of our sin, our death. What have you done with that in your own life? What are you doing with that in your own life? What will you do with that going forward from this day?

He is risen! He is alive! He is right here today to help you by the power of the Holy Spirit to lead you, guide you, teach you, and completely restore you. What are you doing in response to a God who affords you everlasting life even when you have sinned and are owed the death penalty? Life in, with, and of Christ Jesus, results in life, eternal life. Why? How? Because God, Christ Jesus, and the Holy Spirit loves, He gives, and His power is unlike anything this fallen and sinful world is capable of accomplishing. He speaks life into existence, and He restores everlasting by His providence.

Take this time to thank Him. Praise Him. Glorify Him. The best way to accomplish your best response to His sovereignty over all things is to be obedient, faithful, and true to His word. After all, He is obedient, faithful, and true to His word as well. Be the freedom receiving soul He requires and desires you to be by being the living example of His Truth to all others who see you, look at you, and interact with you. Be the testimony Christ Jesus is to you outwardly toward others. Let them know that even though we all die at some point, we have the opportunity to live, truly live eternally beyond our years by following the only eternal example there is, our Lord Christ Jesus who lives to this day, and forever will He!
