Keep Hidden

Keep hidden

Every soul has a hideaway where they keep their innermost thoughts secret. These are kept hidden from anyone else. These are either hurts we experienced and may blame ourselves, or these are hurts we caused in others. These are things, experiences, and behaviors no man can see.

Why do we keep them hidden? We might be afraid of what someone else will think. We believe that whatever sweat equity we have built in a relationship of people, career, or life will be completely lost. We selfishly preserve a false sense of achievement while hiding away and keeping things hidden for fear of being found out.

What is the worst thing that could happen if someone found out? Depending on the severity of the circumstance we hide away, it could mean disciplinary action, a loss of friendship, or even divorce from something or someone. Whatever the cost, the freeing sense that confession brings is far more rewarding than any consequence coming. Confession isn’t for the one who we hurt, although as powerful as that is. No, confession, uncovering the deception, revealing the truth is far more beneficial to the confessor. The burden lifted can be insurmountably heavier than the confession itself.

Most importantly, nothing, and I mean nothing, can be hidden from God who sees all, is all, bears all, and knows all. He is the one we must lean on in such times when we remove those secrets and flush them out into the open. He alone knows how to heal them and obliterate them by forgiving them away forever. Once what you think you have hidden comes out in the open, His healing process can begin. There certainly may be a cost associated with that kind of revealing, but the reward far outweighs any cost of keeping it hidden.
