Stand fast & stand firm

Stand fast and stand firm

While serving our country, the term stand fast was used frequently. This means to keep a firm, fixed, or settled position. Usually, whatever physical position we were in, we were commanded, “Standfast (last name)!” And we were to maintain that position until commanded otherwise. Sometimes, it was a long time!

While following our Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus, we are told to “stand firm,” which means to refuse to change a decision or a position. Sadly, unvelievers also stand firm in believing the lies of the accuser than the truths of Christ Jesus. What do you stand firm in? Where do you standfast? Who is it that commands you? When and why do you listen? What determines both your movement and your position spiritually? Is it God, Christ Jesus, and the Holy Spirit? Is it Satan, the antichrist, and the false prophet?

Understand that God’s Word will not steer you wrong, ever. Understand that Satan’s accusations will not steer you right, ever. Therefore, we must choose who we will stand firm for, God or Satan. Because this life is ongoing, ever changing, and there are always ways in each moment to choose, we must choose wisely, and we must choose godly.

That choice must be to stand firm in the faith, the unwavering faith in God, Christ Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. Nothing else matters then. Nothing else matters now, and nothing else ever will matter more. So, stand firm in Him, and no matter what, when, how, or why. Stand firm!ย
