Who Saved You?

Who saved you?

Most of us have a leader or influential figure, man or woman, who took their time, talents, and treasures, laid everything aside, and made us their number one priority. Who is yours? When was that? What impact did they make on you? What, to this very day, remains both lovingly and gratefully within you for what they did and the impact it may still have on you?

Mine is Coach Tom Miner. Coach Miner was the head football and basketball coach for the Lexington Lions junior high school. His days were packed with kids, schedules, meetings, practices, classes he taught, and availability for others. This was especially true in his office.

Well, after my mother spoke with Coach Miner about me, I was a failing student and young man, every morning and afternoon Coach Miner would completely empty his fully loaded office of football stars and coaches to check my prior night’s homework, and the end of day assigned homework. He’d check for questions in the afternoon and check for answers and questions in the morning. Understand, I didn’t play football, I wasn’t on any team. I was in the band. That experience lives with me today. What’s yours?

Although people can seem to save us from a pitfall here, a bad decision there, and even an addiction, rarely is what they do, as amazing as it is, eternal. Coach Minor did save me from more bad decisions for a time, and at that time, it was exactly what I needed.

Not to diminish any of the effort, but no one can provide eternal salvation except Christ Jesus. He was man. He is God. Only His power of restoration has the ability, opportunity, power, and sovereignty to restore and save souls, only Him. His words and his actions prove this fact time and time again:

“Ah, Sovereign Lord, you have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too hard for you.”

Jeremiah 32:17

I hope you have a “Coach Miner” in your life who made time for you because you are worth it, especially when you might have doubted that. Even much more so, I hope and pray you receive the eternal salvation and restoration of our Lord and Savior Christ Jesus because His love for you and His strength to save you is immeasurable.

He has proved it a multitude of times. His power is all powerful without rival. His grace and mercy is available for you because He willingly took the punishment you deserve from you. Come to Christ Jesus and let Him not only make you his number one priority but allow the transformation He desires for you to take hold and mold you into someone you could never be without Him.ย

Scripture References

Let it be known to all of you and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the deadโ€”by this name this man stands here before you in good health. And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among mankind by which we must be saved.โ€

Acts 4:10, Acts 4:12

*Coach Tom Miner passed in 2014. In 2019, the gymnasium was named after him. How fitting and appropriate!
