Ally versus Adversary
Who do you ally with (unite or form a connection), and who is an adversary (an enemy or opponent)? All of us have friends and family we can count on in both blessed and cursed circumstances. It may be that one friend or family member that no matter the day, the evening, the weather or situation, when you call, you know they respond lovingly and timely.
Who is that to you, a spouse, parent, son, daughter, or grandparent who raised you? Is it a friend, acquaintance, or another believer? Is it a mentor or someone you’ve mentored? Is it a brother or sister in Christ Jesus? Hopefully, you are that to at least someone or even many others.
The truth is we all have both, right? We have those we can count on day or night and those we can’t count on day or night. Some folks we call first in a crisis, and others we’d never call in a crisis. Not only do we have those we can count on because they truly love us, but we also have those that don’t love us and want to do harm to us. Those are the ones we must separate from, but how?
Do we move locations? Sometimes. Do we change occupation? Some do. Do we divorce them? If biblically supported, most definitely.
How do we address and then resolve this dilemma? How do we determine who is an ally and who is an adversary, because hope and love, and hopelessness and hate can be disguised in people. The best way, the only way to determine an ally from an adversary is through God, His Son Christ Jesus, and the Holy Spirit by the proof and truth from the Word of God. There is nothing else that can cull the undesirable from our life than He can-nothing.
Our life’s purpose is designed and destined by God, for God, and of God. Sure, we have the free will given by God to choose both wisely and poorly because we’ve seen us do it! But God’s way is the high way. God’s way is the holy way. God’s way provides crystal clarity, who are our allies, and who are our adversaries, who is the wheat in our lives, and who is the chaff.
So instead of mulling around within your own understanding in judgment attempting to determine who is your ally and who is your adversary, bring it to God’s power and dominion. Bring it to Him in prayer through scripture. Bring it to the only judge that is. Bring it to God, and He will provide the answer. His Word will inspire the right determination and remove all anxiety you have about it in the process.
