Bloom where you’re planted

Although the origins of this phrase are not clearly known, it has been used by artists, authors, and radio broadcasters. The phrase was introduced to me by my mother in the form of a gift, a very small refrigerator magnet, and during a very difficult and challenging time.

This encouraging phrase aligns with many biblical verses, too. It can also present the 50,000 foot view, where although we may be in the weeds of life’s challenges, these times are temporary and will pass. The phrase has also been akin to the phrase, “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.”

To bloom where you’re planted doesn’t mean to stay stuck, either. It is to show the light of Christ Jesus when we take up our cross for Christ Jesus to follow Christ Jesus. It means we understand the difficulties we are in because Christ Jesus himself entered through the same gates of trials and tribulations.

When we are well acquainted with the promise of His ultimate love, delivery, grace, and mercy, we know we will win in the end, just as He did in defeating death. We know that with Him, all things are possible.

Bloom where you’re planted doesn’t mean to accept defeat. It can mean that because we have Christ Jesus, the Son of God, the Messiah, with us, to us, in us, and through us, all things are possible and not just the easy things, all things. With our focus on Him in all times, including times of trial, we will not only survive, we will also thrive.
