Do Everything in Love

Do everything in love

1 Corinthians 16:13 says,
Be on the alert, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong.

Does that sound like weakness? Of course not. It sounds like a soldier pulling security all hours of the night. It sounds like something is at stake if we don’t. What is at stake if we aren’t behaving that way, sin, being deceived, not having faith in Christ, and being overcome by the evil one? Yes, all of those.

Be on the alert

But how do we do this, being alert, stand firm in the faith, act like men and be strong? It is through intentionally carving out time each day to recognize Him, read His word, pray to Him, talk to Him, and behave like He does to every soul we encounter. It is also being a participating and active part of the body in attending a church home, serving in a way that benefits others, and being a member of a small group that meets each week to study His word together.

We learn in the lines of the pews in church. We also learn in the circles of small groups.
If you have hem and hawed around in finding a church home, stop. If you have been resistant to attending your church regularly, don’t. If you are afraid to step out in faith to be a new member of a bible study group, have no fear. The experiences in deciding to be a part of a church body are far outweighed by actually doing something about it and taking the steps necessary to be an active member for Christ Jesus.

Some churches are large, while others are small. The bible study groups, or life groups, as some are called are the best personal way to being deliberate in our walk and helps us, “Be on the alert, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong.” In a study group, we make friends, study scripture, sometimes eat, have fellowship, and pray for one another. We have the opportunity to share our innermost fears, sins, prayers, and praises in a safe environment.

The verse that follows the one above is 1 Corinthians 16:14
All that you do must be done in love.

Be Intentional

Doesn’t that sound powerful as well? When you are intentional with Christ Jesus, His words, and His commands, you will desire what He desires. Love for all, service to all, and the gift of self for Him allows all fears, apprehensions, and hesitations to disappear. The result is an alert of the evil one, standing firm in faith, unshaken, maturity in Christ Jesus, and strength that the evil one can’t overpower. We will love Him, all others, and we will love as He does in everything we do.
