Live with Faith

The righteous one will live by faith.

This powerful guiding statement is mentioned three times in scripture,

“Behold, as for the impudent one, His soul is not right within him; But the righteous one will live by his faith.
Habakkuk 2:4

For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written: “BUT THE RIGHTEOUS ONE WILL LIVE BY FAITH.”
Romans 1:17

Now, that no one is justified by the Law before God is evident; for, “THE RIGHTEOUS ONE WILL LIVE BY FAITH.”
Galatians 3:11

Scripture provides a multitude of experiences where faith allowed supernatural protection where faith is the only explanation as to why that protection was afforded. In Daniel 6, we learn that a law was passed to criminalize Daniel’s faith and devotion to God through prayer. Once the law was passed, Daniel’s faith did not wain, and he prayed as he always had done, three times a day. Daniel was now recognized as a law breaker by their newly created and unjust law against God.

You probably know the rest of the story from verses 16-28. The king, because of this new law, sentenced Daniel to the lion’s den, and Daniel went willingly. He spent the night in that den while the king from verse 18, …went to his palace and spent the night fasting, and no entertainment was brought before him; and his sleep fled from him.

The king knew this was unjust and was anxious about the punishment given. However, the king rose early in the morning and “hurried” to the lion’s den, not knowing what he would find. You can bet, he thought it would be Daniel’s gruesome end.

The king spoke to Daniel from outside the lion’s den in verse 20,
“Daniel, servant of the living God, has your God, whom you continually serve, been able to rescue you from the lions?” To which Daniel replied in verse 21 and 22,
…“O king, live forever! My God sent His angel and shut the lions’ mouths, and they have not harmed me, since I was found innocent before Him; and also toward you, O king, I have committed no crime.”

Daniel’s faith to God is stronger and more powerful than any law that man can concoct. This is man’s weakness, to believe he can control the will of God, His Laws, and His power.

Those who have faith in Him will be protected. Those who have faith in Him will be delivered through any and all circumstances. Those who have faith in Him will be restored. Those who have faith in Him will be made righteous. You might say, “But you don’t know my experiences. You have no clue as to my painful past.” That’s true, I have no way of knowing that. But God does! He knows everything, all the time, and in every time.

Don’t have faith in the pain, in the suffering, and in the hurt. Have faith in God, who is the only one who can protect, deliver, and  restore you from it. If God can protect Daniel by his faith in God through a night in the lion’s den, He can surely protect you from anything you have endured or will endure. That deliverance is spurred by your faith in something far greater than your circumstance. Be made righteous by faith in God.
