Pleasing and Acceptance
Pleasing and acceptance
What child doesn’t desire to be pleasing to and accepted by, to their earthly father? Most children have a strong desire that they might not even be made aware. This strong desire is to be accepted by, approved of, and made proud by their dad. Those who aren’t aware of this desire have never received it and, therefore, don’t even know it exists.
Most people go through life chasing something of the flesh in either money, a career, physical objects, or even people to influence and control. It all comes back to them and their achievements. But why do they do this? They do this because they are searching for something. They need something. They desire something they’ve never received. That something is usually acceptance from another in their life and is typically their father, their dad, or who they might call daddy.
You see, dads have the most powerful influence on their children by communicating their acceptance and approval in them. This is so powerful that when kids don’t receive this love and support, they can often go outside their home to retrieve it through habits, addictions, career pursuits, and the like. They might even obtain it to a certain degree from a mentor, a colleague, a leader, or a friend. However, that still leaves a void their earthly father can only fill.
True too, all believers desire to hear God the Father, our spiritual Daddy, say, “Well done, my good and faithful servant.” (Matthew 25:23)
What must one do to receive this acceptance from God? We must do all we can to please God. Be like Christ Jesus. Read God’s Word and understand. Humbly wash the feet of others nearest you as Christ Jesus did. Lovingly, graciously, and mercifully treat every other person as Christ Jesus has treated and continues to treat you.
God’s Word never promises it will be easy. God’s Word promises it is necessary and will always be worth it. Just think how much you want to please your earthly father. How much more important is that desire to please and be accepted by our heavenly Father?
Happy Fathers Day to all the Dad’s out there this 16th of June 2024 !
