Safe Harbor
Safe harbor, as defined by Merriam Webster, is something that provides protection. Ultimately, God the Father provides safe harbor to all mankind if they choose to let go and let God.
Safe harbor can also be mankind’s illusion of remaining safe in a familiar and stagnant port. In a familiar harbor, we will encounter the everyday interactions of mankind, the challenges, disappointments, and occasional achievements. But are we really safe in merely refusing to leave that harbor? Are we growing in wisdom, knowledge, and discernment? Are we increasing in our relationship with Him? We might be some, but nothing like the experiences we gain by leaving that “safe harbor” and trusting God the Father for our every need.
Away from harbor and out at sea are the real challenges, trials, tribulations, and amazingly beautiful and blessed experiences. Have you ever watched “Deadliest Catch?”
Yes, it can be a bit scary, but when God is for us, who can be against us? (Romans 8:31).
If you believe God is who He says He is. If you believe Christ Jesus is His supernaturally born Son and Savior. If you are aware and obedient to the prompting of the Holy Spirit. Your eternity is secure, and there are no unsafe harbors. You are created, forgiven, loved, and made secure eternally.
So, why remain in a “safe harbor” and limit what He wants for you, for others, and for Him? Lift the anchors that weigh you down. Untie the dock lines. Shove off to the depths of the unchartered open sea where mankind can’t save you because God most assuredly will!
