Perspective
What is your perspective of and in life, death, how you became, and how you should behave? Where will you go eternally, and what does that look like to you?
If you have earthly or fleshly responses, those responses are false. They are false truths of a false world and not of the creator of truth, His truth, the only truth.
When the family visited the Grand Canyon years ago what amazed me to this day is that when I looked at His powerful majesty in His creation, the perspective changed when I moved thirty feet to my left and looked. That perspective changed again when I moved sixty feet to my right. It was an amazing experience! Years later, I watched a documentary on the Grand Canyon. It had three dimensional graphic models of the canyon from above and below the surface. Again, I witnessed a unique perspective of the same canyon seen earlier.
Just as I have a perspective, someone else has a different one. Theirs can be unique to them, and if we don’t have relationships with other believers, our perspective is all we have and is limited to just one view. Each person’s perspective, right or wrong, can give us added perspective and can help us prove, disprove, and improve how we see things.
The perspectives we have about life, death, how we became, how we should behave, and where we will spend eternity matters like nothing else. Within the perspective of our flesh, we are about us, me, myself, and I. Within a spiritual perspective, a godly perspective, we are about Christ Jesus and others. We serve as opposed to being served. As strange as it can seem, all perspectives without Christ are losses, rubbish, and garbage. Once we know Him, our perspective changes from our own to His. Then He can begin a godly work in us.
I couldn’t find the term “perspective” in scripture. However, it is synonymous with the word “view,” which occurs fifteen times. Below are just a few-
Ezekiel 14:4
“Therefore speak to them and tell them, ‘This is what the Lord GOD says: “Anyone of the house of Israel who sets up his idols in his heart, puts in front of his face the stumbling block of his wrongdoing, and then comes to the prophet, I the LORD will let Myself answer him in the matter in view of the multitude of his idols,
Sow for yourselves, with a view to righteousness; Harvest in accordance with kindness. Break up your uncultivated ground, For it is time to seek the LORD Until He comes and rains righteousness on you.
Hosea 10:12
“In view of this I also do my best to maintain a blameless conscience both before God and before other people, always.
Acts 24:16
But whatever things were gain to me, these things I have counted as loss because of Christ. More than that, I count all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them mere rubbish, so that I may gain Christ,
