Cast All Your Anxiety On Him
Cast all your anxiety on Him, because he cares for you-1 Peter 5:7
The word anxiety has come up multiple times in study today. Anxiety defined is a state of uneasiness and apprehension, as about future uncertainties. This is fear of the future and the anticipation of tomorrow’s tomorrows that we allow to infiltrate and destroy the lack of anxiety we have today, in this very moment and the next moments.
My most favorite verse in scripture is Philippians 4:6-7,
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.
And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
I must say the first four words repeatedly when reciting this verse because that is where the fight starts, the very beginning. I allow anxiety in and provide a place for it to exist. Christ Jesus says, “No!” Be anxious for nothing. And then goes on to say pray about everything, not some things, now and then, here or there. “No!” Pray about everything, and with thanksgiving; pray, and His peace, not my peace or what I think that is. “No!” His peace that is far beyond my ability to comprehend, will guard, secure, be a sentry, protecting both my deceitful heart and wondering mind in Christ Jesus.
Christ Jesus provides the complete cure for anxiety in Matthew 6 (also in Luke 12:22-32). He tells us exactly what to do. I encourage you to read and become intimately familiar with His loving instruction there.
The final two verses found in Matthew 6 are so very powerful. If you have ever pondered verse memorization, these two are great ones to get you started!
33 “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be provided to you.
34 “So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
Be anxious for nothing.
