He will wipe every tear from your eyes

“He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” Revelation 21:4

Remember that television show “Extreme Makeover?” They would completely renovate a home, or even tear it down and rebuild it for a family in need. Once it was done, they had their tour bus blocking the family’s view and all would shout, “Move that bus!” to reveal the newly built home to the family. It was a very encouraging moment.

The book of Revelation is in essence, Christ Jesus “moving that bus” so John could see into the future in detail the wonderful promises and actions delivered that result in His return. John was very close to Jesus and spent quite a bit of time with Jesus while He walked the earth. Many years after Jesus died, rose, and ascended to heaven, John found himself imprisoned on the island of Patmos for his continuous belief in Christ Jesus and spreading the gospel wherever he went.

Revelation has a reputation of being too difficult to understand with all its imagery, metaphors, and detailed descriptions. However, it is both the last and the only book in the bible which prophesies have yet to be fulfilled. A good study bible, like Dr. David Jeremiah’s can be an excellent tool to understand the book of Revelation more clearly. Greg Laurie’s, “Book of Promises” is arguably his longest book, but breaks down the book of Revelation more simply. Either way, I encourage you to study Revelation and pray through it. It reveals that in the very end of the very end of the bible, God wins!

My life as a youth was troubled. I knew right and went the opposite direction. I knew truth and lived lies. I had choices and made the wrong ones for spite of a situation I did not create or request. I blamed myself for things which I had no control over. I did drugs, had sex, and didn’t care if I lived or died. I believed God’s promises and am definitely not the same person I was then, not a trace is present in me from those days.

Are you struggling with painful experiences of physical or mental abuse, neglect, betrayal, being unloved, disrespected and disregarded? These are the toughest experiences to get through, I know. But those experiences are not what you deserve nor are they who you are.

God desires you, all of you. He wants to “move that bus” that is blocking a clear path to Him. Please understand, giving away that pain for the promises He gives and reveals is not easy. It isn’t. But God wants to help you, heal you, and transform you to be who He sees you to be. He loves you.

Revelation reveals how it will be eternally, and how we can receive His promises today. Imagine a place where there are no tears, no pain and the causes of it like strife, anxiety, suffering and betrayal, even death. Those things will be gone, forever!

Come to Christ Jesus, ask Him to resolve those pains deep within you, and allow Him to replace that overwhelming pain, with overwhelming love, forgiveness, grace and mercy. Pursue Him through scripture reading, memorization, and prayer. These can be tough tasks, but moving closer to Christ Jesus, knowing Him, and loving Him first is always worth it, always!?

Romans 15:5-6
Now may the God who gives perseverance and encouragement grant you to be of the same mind with one another, according to Christ Jesus, so that with one purpose and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
