Logic versus Imagination
Imagination will take you Everywhere
I wanted to talk about a very insightful quote from Albert Einstein- “Logic will take you from point A to point B, imagination will take you everywhere.” Let’s drill into that. It’s important to have your imagination and to think big, because that’s what is going to enable you to make those quantum leaps and to radically transform. It’s good to have logic, but sometimes, you get in your own way. When you try to use logic, many times, you NEED to think bigger, and you must think of what has not been done before. That’s when you transform an existing business model, or you transform a traditional industry. That’s when you create blue oceans of opportunity, instead of fighting in the crowded red ocean. It’s really important to do that.
Take timely Action
Leveraging your imagination and taking timely and appropriate follow up action is equally important in your personal life, as in your work life. While you’re thinking big, remember, sometimes, you’re going to be caught in situations where things are irritating you, things are frustrating you-in those situations and circumstances, take a deep breath and relax. It’s not the end of the world, right?
When you’re caught in traffic, and somebody cuts you off, or you’re waiting on the phone for a customer support representative and it’s taking too long, or you get transferred from one person to the other, whatever the issue is, these are all small things. Don’t lose perspective of the big picture, and don’t let the small things trouble you. If you do that, it’s going to negatively impact your mood, and will put you in a contracted state of mind. That will impact how you feel, your thoughts and emotions and influence your actions for the rest of the day. You don’t want to do that. You want to stay calm, you want to stay relaxed, and you want to let it flow- just like water flows over the rocks. Let the negative small stuff just flow while you’re keeping sight of the bigger picture and your imagination so that you can think big and go everywhere. Instead of just going from point A to point B.
Exponential Growth
That’s the difference between linear growth and exponential growth. On most occasions, for that exponential growth, we have to also take some risks. Not everyone around you is going to be in favor of that. There will be many people who will tell you no, don’t do that. It’s too risky, what happens if it does not work, etc. But that’s where you have to listen to your heart. Have faith in yourself. Seek out the advice and the counsel of people that you trust and that have your best interest in mind.
Research and take calculated Risks
Do your research. You need to take some calculated risks, to grow exponentially and in your desired timeframe. If you don’t take those risks, nothing’s going to happen. You will continue along the linear path. There is nothing wrong with that. But if you want a different outcome and a bigger outcome and a bigger result, then you must change the inputs and the processes and the methods. As Albert Einstein said, “Logic will take you from point A to point B, but imagination will take you everywhere.”
