Revive

Are you in need of reviving? Do you need to be revived? What does that even mean? Revive means to return to consciousness or life; to restore from a depressed, inactive, or unused state:ย bring back; to renew in the mind or memory, from Merriam Webster. Looking at those definitions individually, the answer to the first two questions becomes a definitive, “Yes!”

But why? Why do we need reviving? It is because it is impossible to do within our own selves, and within our own minds, and by our own efforts. Sure, we can temporarily, but to be revived is to take on the force and power from something greater and more capable, a force and a power that’s already been through our current situation(s) that require revival, the act of reviving.

Revive is mentioned in God’s Word at least 19 times, mostly found in the book of Psalms, and most frequently with “me” or “us.” Wow, who would think it? It reveals that you, me, and us are in desperate need of reviving and all the time because we fail.

We get caught up in the here and now. We believe the continuous lies manufactured by the deceiver and his minions that we are less than what God knows us to be. We sink, slump, and shrink in the face of evil and, over time, begin to become what Satan desires we become, defeated, deflated, demoralized, and dead to God.

May it never be! Get up! Get out! Get right with God! Admit that you need reviving and get revived from the only One who can, Christ Jesus Himself. He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father (and lives) except through Him, John 14:6.

The sooner we truly accept the fact that we need reviving and the only One who has been ever to not just create life, but sustain it, revive it, and allow us all to be reborn is Christ Jesus Himself, who has unlimited power in everything, including our own spiritual death, the sooner we will revive from death to the life He desires for us, a life of, for, and revived by His mighty power!

Let it go, whatever it is that is leading you to, keeping you in, or preventing you from being revived. It is God’s Word that reveals to each one of us that we need reviving. He knows immeasurably more and better than we ever will, so taking His instruction and applying it definitively to our life, experience, and circumstance will facilitate revival within our own soul, and will also facilitate through us the awareness that others need to be revived as well.
