How to use Discouragement as a tool to power ahead

Changing strategies too fast.

Abandoning a dream too soon.

Thinking that there is only one way.

These are things I consider when I’m discouraged.

Discouragement has the potential to get me stuck.

When I get discouraged, my first reaction is to call it quits.

Every time? Yes, every time. 🙂

Do I quit now?

Not that fast.

Not anymore…

What did I learn?

Discouragement is fear’s cousin, and it’s telling lies most of the time.

What do I do now?

I sleep on it.

I slow down.

I focus on my goals.

I talk with someone.

I notice my first reaction and question it.

I work hard not to make any rushed decisions.

I let the feeling of discouragement pass.

I also reflect on the examples I have of when success followed discouragement.

Examples of when discouragement was nothing but a feeling…

Now when I feel discouraged, I take that as a trigger that I need to do some of the things mentioned above and get clear.

And ONLY when I’m clear I’ll make a decision about my next steps.

How is discouragement showing up in your life and what do you do to avoid any potential damage it can make?
