The Power of Community
The Power of Community to develop & maintain balance in life
As you are running around in the hustle and bustle of life, are you taking the time to pause, take a breather, stop and smell the roses? Do you relax and spend time with friends and family and community and decompress and chill and rebalance your aspects of life.
Folks, I cannot tell you how important that is. If we forget to do that, or if we don’t consciously take the time to do so, we will run out of energy, become stressed, overwhelmed, and utterly devoid of our emotional, social, and relational quotient.
Please don’t do that. Just like you take out time on your calendar for other important tasks, be disciplined to take out time to laugh and relax and spend time with family and friends that you can openly share with, talk with and who are genuinely interested in helping you grow and develop. There are people like that in your life. I hope you have identified those people. If you have not, PLEASE take the time to do that.
Man is not supposed to move across life alone. Don’t be a lone wolf. Identify the folks that are going to be helpful and key in your success. This is equally important in your work life as in your personal life. Spend the time and invest the time to relax with them, to laugh with them, and to break bread with them. And when you do that, everybody benefits. It’s like the tide that lifts all boats.
Why don’t we do that when we know how important it is? There are a couple of reasons. We get caught up in the now and the urgent and we forget to take the time out. We feel that we have so much to do, and that we are so busy that we don’t have the time. I don’t believe in that.
You make time for what is important. You make time for the people who are important in your life. And this is equally important, if not more important, because if you don’t have the balance, you are going to go off track. The balance is key.
You need to prioritize and make time for those people that will help you develop and maintain that balance in your life. They could be a coworker, they could be a family friend, or they could be a neighbor-it doesn’t matter who it is. But take the time out to smell the roses. Take the time to relax and laugh.
Be interested first, to be interesting. Don’t be so wrapped up in your own affairs that you don’t even acknowledge the people in your life who give you happiness. You should fill up your bucket and help others fill up theirs.
Productivity is never an accident. It is always the result of a commitment to excellence, intelligent planning and focused effort.โ Paul J. Meyer
