Take time to introspect, plan and then go execute

Hi everyone. It’s Sal Celly hope you all are doing great. I am at my favorite spot at Lake Pflugerville-it’s cloudy day here in Austin, Texas. I was definitely missing this spot as I have been traveling and working and busy with life. I wanted to come and spend some time here and I want to talk about that.

Introspect and analyze

If you’re feeling tired, feeling you have less energy, and you’re just dragging, take a step back, reflect and introspect. At some point, we’re all going to feel that way. But there’s a reason for that. It could be that you are under pressure, you’re not sleeping well or you’re not eating well, or you’re worked up or you’re stressed, or you’re anxious. Maybe, you may have overexerted yourself physically, mentally or emotionally.

It’s going to happen, either in your personal life or at work or in both realms. That’s why we call it maximizeu.life. Because, what happens in your work impacts your personal life, and what happens in your personal life impacts your work-both positive impacts and negative effects.  It’s all inter-connected and you can no longer effectively compartmentalize each segment in isolation.

Identify the reasons

The good news is -everything is figureoutable. So, take a step back, and introspect. You will find the reason.  I was feeling like that. There are many reasons why. I paused, reflected and right just introspected. The worst thing you can do is to keep it to yourself and not take any action-talk about it with someone who cares-your spouse, with a friend or a colleague you care about and with somebody that cares about you. Understand and logically analyze what could be the factors that are impacting you and causing you to feel the way you are feeling currently.

In my case, as some of you know, unfortunately, my mom is on her last breaths-that’s weighing on me. She’s battled cancer for many years. And now, it’s just a matter of a few weeks (hopefully, not less than that). I was really feeling the pressure and feeling the sadness yesterday. That’s been weighing on me and I talked about it with my wife and I’m going to take action-I’m going to go and see her in Toronto next Saturday. I took action and have a plan and I am executing on it. That made me feel better.

Spend time in Nature

The other thing is-spend time with nature and be outdoors. Spend time doing the things that give you pleasure, joy and happiness- whether that is coming down to the lake, being out in the open air, walking and running or working out or riding your motorcycle or listening to music or going to watch a movie. Maybe, it is spending quality time to relax with your friends or gardening or practicing your hobby. Folks, it’s very important to take a deep breath, stop, and smell the roses. Even in the hustle and bustle of life, and particularly in the hustle and bustle of life, when things are stressful, or you’re in a tight situation and you are feeling pressured. Do that.

Abraham Lincoln very famously said, “If I have six hours to chop down a tree, I will spend four hours sharpening the axe”.  Your productivity, your effectiveness, and your efficiency is directly correlated to your ability to perform at a higher level. In order to do that, you need to have balance, you need to take the time out and relax and recharge. And introspect.

Journaling is a great way to do that and put your thoughts and feelings out on paper, where you can see them. I need to do more of that as well. I wanted to do this quick blog post. Hope you all are doing well.

Take a step back and pause to reflect

Remember, take a step back and figure out what is causing your current physical, mental, or emotional state. Talk about it with somebody else, and most importantly, take action. Don’t go into analysis- paralysis mode, where you keep thinking about it and do not act. The best plans are useless unless you take action and remember, if you don’t have your own plan, you will become some part of somebody else’s plan and the outcome will not be as favorable for you as it would be if you had your own plan. So, make your own plan and execute upon it.
